The ground floor level is a recreation paradise. The whole room is done with custom woodworking, giving it an elegant, men's club atmosphere. The pool table, dart board, and 61" wide screen TV provide hours of entertainment. For those that need refreshment, there is another kitchen area, full size refrigerator, and microwave in the area. Off the rec room is a powder room and office area. A computer, fax machine and phone are provided for those that must squeeze a little work into their vacation. But, no need to sit in the office to use the hi speed Internet -- the house has wireless Internet available if you brought your own laptop! Corolla has a number of attractions and activities for your family to enjoy. Within walking distance of the home is the Currituck Lighthouse. From the Lighthouse, just south a few yards is the Whalehead Club - a restored home now used as a museum which sports walking trails on its sound side property. Just four miles north of the home is the 4 Wheel Drive beach - a 5-10 mile stretch of pristine beach that has no roads; where one might still see the wild horses that have made Corolla famous. If you do not have a 4WD vehicle, there are "outback" tours available.
For the kids, there is mini golf, go cart racing, bumper cars, paddle boats and an arcade at the Timbuck II shopping center. Adults can browse the many fine shops while the kids are entertained. There is also para sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and wave running available through several companies in the area. Further south of Corolla in the Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills area, you can fish off the Kitty Hawk pier, visit the First Flight national park, and hang glide off of Jockey's Ridge where the Wright brothers first flew. A bit further south, Oregon Inlet boasts a deep sea fishing center. In the Manteo area, on Roanoke Island, North Carolina sites an Aquarium and the reconstruction of the Lost Colony legend. All in all, the area has plenty of attractions and activities for people of all ages and interests! |
